In this multi-day class, kids will cook a different healthy recipe every week. It will vary between main courses and different desserts. This class is beginner-friendly, even the most novice cook will be guided through this class! A week before class, students will be provided with a list of the ingredients needed for that week’s recipe. At the beginning of class, the students should have all of their materials ready and within reach. The kids will learn through step by step instructional PowerPoint while I help out any kids that need a little more guidance. Each slide will correspond with a step in the recipe. As we make our different recipes, we will discuss nutrition and how the recipe is healthy and nutritious. We will go over salt content and healthy fats, as well as vitamins. We will discuss substitutes that we can use for our favorite recipes in order to make them healthier. I encourage feedback on how we could make recipes even more healthy if the students have input. Depending on the recipe, the kids might finish up with their parents after class but most recipes will finish during class. Week 1: Stir fry (meat can be student's choice) Week 2: Healthy breakfast brownies Week 3: Spaghetti squash crust pizza Week 4: Mango lime ice pops Week 5: Bacon and egg breakfast bites Week 6: Caulifredo zoodles with juicy chicken Week 7: Warm quinoa salad Week 8: Honey mustard chicken salad Week 9: Rutabaga chili cheese fries Week 10: Chocolate chip zucchini bread muffins
