In this class, we will explore classic and contemporary works of English literature. In this 3 period class, we will explore books and movies used in 10th-12th grade language arts! We will use such films as “Casablanca” and “Thirteen Days.” We will also explore some of the themes surrounding these movies and compare/contrast the concepts. I am offering this class to support 10-12th graders who want to explore classic and contemporary literature in an informal setting. I am a certified 7-12 English teacher and have experience with making literature come alive for students of all ages. I have training in teaching both middle school and high school language arts and offer students a way of exploring literature. We discuss material of a darker nature with honesty, sensitivity and an understanding of these topics. We will explore darker psychological matters and sees to understand motivation for behavior and thoughts behind actions.
