NOTE: This listing is for Java rather than JavaScript. Despite the similar name, the two languages are very different. If you need JavaScript tutoring and are having a hard time finding another tutor, please reach out to me. I have used it professionally, though it is not a language I have taught before and is not my expertise, but I may be able to help. - I am committed to making sure students understand the material, teaching students how to learn and discover, and helping them succeed on their own by guiding them toward solutions rather than giving them answers without ensuring they understand the material.
I got my bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Since then, I have worked as a Software Engineer, 4 years of which I worked primarily in Java. In addition, I have taught AP Computer Science A through TEALS (Technology Education and Learning Support) to high schoolers since 2017.
If covering an assignment or school-provided materials, student should have those on hand and shared with me 24 hours prior to our session, when possible.

We will be referring to the Java API Specification from Oracle to look at official language documentation to see what methods are available to us, what they do, and how they can be used. We will use the Online-Java complier to write and run Java code. It does not require an account. We may use W3 Resource for practice problems. It does not require an account. We will also refer to the CodeHS AP Computer Science A online textbook, though I will use screen share for this: https://codehs.com/textbook/apcsa_textbook/
