1-2 horas por semana. For beginners, I suggest practicing a minimum of fifteen minutes a day, five days a week. Those interested in a music career should practice two hours a day or more.
Evaluación
Musicians are generally assessed based on public performance. For those uncomfortable performing, music recording software is a valuable tool for creating songs that can be sold online or not. Some students simply want to play for themselves or their family members. That's okay too. My goal is to share the joy of music and help students express themselves.

Experiencia de clase

Welcome to Guitar Stars, where musical dreams come to life! Whether you're an absolute beginner or have already started your journey into the world of guitar, this class is tailored to take you from novice to intermediate level and beyond.

What to Expect:

1. Comprehensive Foundations: Novices will start with the very basics. You'll learn to hold the guitar, read tablature or notation, decipher chord diagrams, express rhythm, and understand the fretboard. Intermediate students may skip the basics and forge ahead according to specific goals. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm!

2. Essential Techniques: We'll delve into fundamental techniques such as fingerpicking, strumming patterns, and chord transitions. You'll build a solid technical foundation to play your favorite songs.

3. Lead Guitar Mastery: Take your lead guitar skills to new heights. We can cover scales, modes, improvisation, and phrasing, enabling you to craft impressive solos and express your musical ideas fluently.

4. Repertoire Building: As you progress, we'll explore a wide range of artists and music genres, including rock, pop, country, hip-hop, jazz, classical music, Jimi Hendrix, Ed Sheeran, or anything in-between. You'll get the chance to learn and master popular songs, riffs, and melodies.

5. Ear Training: Develop your ear for music as we work on recognizing chords and melodies by ear. You'll also learn to tune your guitar without relying on electronic tuners.

6. Music Theory Simplified: I'll demystify music theory, making it accessible and practical for your guitar playing. You'll understand how scales, chords, and progressions work, empowering you to compose and improvise.

7. Performance Opportunities: Gain confidence and showcase your skills by seeking performance opportunities. Whether you aspire to play in front of friends or eventually perform on stage, we'll help you build the necessary confidence.

8. Individualized Feedback: I'll provide personalized feedback and guidance after each class. I'm here to answer your questions and tailor the learning experience to your goals.

Students have the freedom to explore songs they enjoy while I incorporate essential knowledge along the way. I'll help you develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive!

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I teach guitar, ukulele, songwriting, and creative writing in a non-judgmental manner.

My professional music career began at age fifteen when I landed a gig in a Led Zeppelin cover band. It wasn't long before I was expanding my rock-and-roll knowledge with jazz, classical music, pop, and hip-hop. In 2003, I graduated cum laude from Purchase College with a dual degree in music and literature. I've been working as a freelance musician and teacher ever since. I have ten years of experience in narrative writing as well. In 2017, I was selected as a winner of T.A. Barron's Origin Story Contest.

I've found that private instruction serves individual needs best. So I like to teach one-on-one and adapt to address student goals.

If you are looking for a teacher with a professional background and diverse experience, let's connect!
