Experiencia de clase

Please try to have your guitar tuned prior to the class. I will send you the link for GuitarTuna online tuner. It is also available as a free phone app. You can use an electronic tuner instead, if you have one, but GuitarTuna often works better for beginners.

This is a beginner guitar class, for students with little or no experience playing the guitar. We will start with the basics of holding the guitar and how to play on the frets.
I will teach the student to play some fun songs, at their level.

Week 1 - Guitar Playing Basics
How to hold the guitar and proper hand positioning. String numbers and frets. basic strumming. Finding the frets and playing an E minor pentatonic scale. How to read basic guitar tablature. Overview of tuning the guitar and how to use the Guitar Tuna App.

Week 2 - Some fun songs with guitar tablature. Simple imrpovising on a scale. Introduction to playing chords. How to read a chord diagram.

Week 3 - Playing chords with simple strum patterns. Keeping a steady beat and rhythm patterns. Playing some fun songs on the guitar.

We will talk about tuning the guitar and the different methods for tuning.
They will learn how to read chord diagrams and guitar tablature.
We will practice playing basic chords and strumming patterns.
We will focus on keeping a steady beat, and chord changes.
My teaching style is relaxed and fun, with a focus on student progress. My goal is for the students to develop more confidence about playing music and learning the guitar.
This is an interactive class, and the students will do a lot of playing on their guitar.
We will play some songs all together, and sometimes the student may play for the class, if they are okay with that.
I try to choose songs in fun styles that are enjoyable to play and learn.
I will use the Zoom screen share option, during some of the class, to show the song sheets. I will sometimes use the white board in zoom.
If you can "enable original sound" in your Zoom app, it would be a huge help. This will allow me to hear the learner's guitar. The default setting of Zoom, has a filter, which erases the guitar sound. I can help you with this. It will depend on what type of device you are using. Just a quick note - phones are not the best device for guitar lessons.

Orientación para padres
I will send you a link for the GuitarTuna online guitar tuner. This is the tuner that I recommend. It is also available as a free app for your phone. There is no account needed for this tuner. I will sometimes play a song for the student, using youtube on the zoom screen share. This will be to let them hear how the song goes, so they can more easily learn the song.
