Type of Homework: Practice Assignments: Students will be given specific songs or exercises to practice the chords and techniques learned in class. Listening Tasks: Optional listening tasks may be provided for students to identify chords and strumming patterns in selected songs. Creative Projects: Occasionally, students will have the option to create their own simple song arrangements using the chords and techniques they have learned. Frequency of Assignments: Optional homework will be suggested at the end of each class session to be completed before the next class. Checking for Correctness: Homework will be reviewed at the beginning of each class for those who choose to complete it. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their progress, ask questions, and receive feedback. For optional creative projects, students can share their work with the class and receive constructive feedback from both the instructor and peers. Requirements: All assignments are optional and designed to reinforce learning. While completing homework is encouraged to enhance skill development, it is not mandatory. Parents are welcome to submit videos of their child’s playing via Google Drive or Flipgrid, or any other preferred method, if they would like individualized feedback between classes. This allows for personalized guidance and support outside of class time. Accounts may be required by some of the third party video submission apps, but no app is required for the class.

I have been teaching music to kids and adults for over 20 years, and it's the world's best job.
A credentialed teacher, I primarily teach piano, guitars, drums, ukulele, banjo, bass, saxophone, and flute. Besides teaching music, I also spent many years as an elementary classroom teacher, and like to spend as much time as possible with my wife and six kids.
I believe that learning an instrument isn’t magic! Anyone can jump in and learn what they want. You CAN do at least some of it and you can’t mess it up. The music is here and it wants to be your friend.
Music is just a foreign language, so it can be as serious or as leisurely as you want. You can dedicate your life to the language or just learn a few words. The music is here to serve us, not the other way around. Most piano and guitar programs are insanely inaccessible, but my mission is to fix that with a specialized approach for every learning style.
