Students will document their own progress in their lesson books. This will include a written date in lesson book and small notes such as "introduced" "played in lesson" "practiced". For Beginners and Early Non-Beginners coming back to basics. Here is an opportunity for your child to experience the piano AND get a kickstart in their first lesson book. This group course is designed to meet once a week for 35 minutes, 4 classes total. For this course, a lesson book will be needed: Piano Adventures - Primer Level (link in Materials - supply list) Covered content from "Piano Adventures - Primer Level" Lesson Book (pg 10- 22) 1. Sitting at the Piano 2. Hand Shape 3. Finger Numbers 4. 2 Black Keys 5. 3 Black Keys 6. The Quarter Note 7. The Half Note 8. Forte and Piano Extras: * Body Posture * Hand Posture * Orientation to the keyboard (high and low) * playing with a steady beat * coordination of Left and Right Hand * playing along with the Teacher * playing along with other students Sample Structure of a lesson: 1. Finger and Hand warm-ups + posture check 2. Introduction of new short song 3. Review of past short song 4. Review of new song with teacher accompaniment *days that are missed will NOT be refunded.*

Orientation to the Piano and The Black Keys
This lesson will orient the student to the piano's black key patterns, high and low sounds, right and left hand, and coordination of the the fingers to play the black keys. At the end of class, students will have the option to play an exercise for the class.

Lección 2:
Reading Black Key Patterns and Rhythm
This lesson will build off of lesson 1 and introduce students to longer black key patterns and alternating between left and right hands. Students will also begin reading and playing black key patterns independently while practicing a steady beat. At the end of class, students will have the option to play the new lesson piece.
Review of Pg 10-15 and introduction to pg 16-17

Lección 3:
Introduction to the Half Note and loud/soft playing
We will review concepts introduced between Pg 10-17 and learn about the Half Note and play two songs using the half note. Students will learn about "forte" and "piano" (musical terms for loud and soft).

Students will get a sneak peak of the final song:
"Old McDonald had a Song"
and will play a portion containing half notes.

Lección 4:
Grand Finale: The Whole Notes and Old McDonald had a Song
Students will warm up with "The Whole Note" (rhythm exercise including a new note value and forte/piano) pg 21
The rest of the class will be devoted to introducing and playing
"Old McDonald had a Song" pg 22-23

A place to position the device (ipad, laptop, etc) so that the student's hands and piano keys can be seen. 5. Proper seating for the child and a step to place under the feet ( the step is optional but will make your child more comfortable).
