If you've ever wondered where the unique and somewhat silly. American tradition of Groundhog Day came from...this class is for you! A great class for English language learners and English speakers alike, who are curious about how the tradition of Groundhog Day started. We will discuss the origins and connect the observation to some other cultures around the world that have similar wintertime traditions through a google slide presentation with images, a short video clip and simple explanations. Students can volunteer to read and may be asked questions about what they understood from the slide show. In order to "test" our knowledge, we will spend the last 10-15 minutes of class playing a Kahoot game. Students will enjoy competing in a fun way to test their trivia knowledge of Groundhog Day based on what we just learned.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will be able to identify how the Groundhog's Day tradition came to be in America and describe what happens on February 2nd.
