This 10-week asynchronous course provides an engaging exploration of Anatomy & Physiology, combining high school-level science with examples from popular medical TV shows. Students will learn about body systems, their functions, and their interdependence through pre-recorded video lessons and self-paced case studies. Perfect for students who love science, pop culture, or are considering a healthcare career, this class allows flexible scheduling while fostering critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills. Students will explore the structure and function of body systems, including the skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, and more. The course focuses on how systems maintain homeostasis, respond to challenges, and work together during trauma or disease. Key concepts include medical terminology, real-world clinical applications, and media analysis. Students will access pre-recorded weekly video lessons that include a brief introduction to the system of the week, engaging explanations with slides and visuals, and clips from medical TV shows to illustrate key concepts. Following the video, students will complete self-paced case studies, quizzes, and activities to apply their learning. A structured weekly schedule will guide students in completing tasks at their own pace. Discussion boards or optional check-ins may be available for peer interaction and support. I focus on making science relatable, using popular medical TV shows and clear, engaging presentations to bring Anatomy & Physiology to life. Lessons are designed to foster independent learning while building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Although the class is asynchronous, students will have opportunities to interact with me via written feedback on case studies and optional discussion board posts. I will be available to answer questions and provide guidance as they progress through the course. Students will analyze a variety of real-world-inspired medical scenarios, including trauma cases, chronic diseases, diagnostic challenges, and systemic disorders. Each case study is designed to deepen understanding of body systems and their interactions, allowing students to apply what they’ve learned independently.
