Studying Greek demands mental effort. It trains the mind to observe details, to recognize patterns, and to draw conclusions. As you study the etymology of a word, or meditate upon the significance of a preposition, or parse a verb, you develop the powers of the mind. Week 1: Introduction to Greek Language and Basics Title: Getting Started with Greek Description: In the first week, students are introduced to the Greek alphabet, basic greetings, colors, numbers, and weather. By the end of the week, students will be able to write their names, greet others, and discuss basic topics such as weather and mood. Lesson 1: The Basics: The Greek Alphabet / Greetings Objective: Learn the Greek alphabet and basic greetings. Activities: Flashcards, role-playing, and pantomime using the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. Outcome: Students will recognize and write the Greek alphabet and use simple greetings. Lesson 2: Colors / Numbers / Weather Objective: Introduction to colors, numbers, and weather conditions. Activities: Interactive discussions about moods and weather in Greek, writing names, and presenting oneself. Outcome: Students will be able to describe weather conditions, state their mood, and introduce themselves and their family members. Week 2: Expanding Vocabulary and Basic Grammar Title: Nationalities and Food Description: This week focuses on nationalities, countries, fruits, vegetables, and food-related vocabulary. Students will also start learning basic grammar, including prepositions of place and articles. Lesson 3: Nationalities / Countries Objective: Learn the names of countries and how to express nationality. Activities: Interactive map exploration, introduction to prepositions of place and articles. Outcome: Students will be able to say where they are from and use articles correctly with country names. Lesson 4: Fruit / Vegetables / Food Objective: Introduction to basic food vocabulary and expressing preferences. Activities: Vocabulary exercises, dialogues on likes and dislikes. Outcome: Students will be able to express their food preferences in Greek and discuss simple topics related to food. Week 3: Exploring Places and Describing Objects Title: Everyday Places and Home Description: Students will learn vocabulary related to places and objects, with a focus on prepositions and describing locations and home environments. Lesson 5: Places and Objects Objective: Learn names of common places and objects. Activities: Map-based exercises, practicing prepositions and positions of objects. Outcome: Students will be able to describe the location of objects and places using simple sentences. Lesson 6: Home and Its Objects Objective: Describe parts of the house and objects within it. Activities: Descriptive exercises, writing short sentences about favorite rooms. Outcome: Students will be able to describe their home and express preferences about rooms and objects. Week 4: Family and Review Title: Family and Final Review Description: The final week is dedicated to learning about family members, facial characteristics, and a comprehensive review of all materials covered. Lesson 7: Members of the Family Objective: Learn vocabulary related to family members and physical descriptions. Activities: Describing family members, learning facial characteristics and adjectives. Outcome: Students will be able to describe a family member in Greek. Lesson 8: Review Objective: Consolidate all knowledge acquired during the course. Activities: Interactive games, role-play, dialogues, speaking and writing exercises in Greek. Outcome: Students will reinforce their understanding of the material and improve their confidence in using Greek. This course plan provides a well-rounded introduction to the Greek language, balancing vocabulary, grammar, and practical usage through engaging activities and consistent practice.

I have a BA degree in English Language and literature and an MA in TESOL. I have been teaching English to young children , teenagers and adults for 20 years .
Teaching international students online has always been a challenging and thrilling experience for me .What I cherish the most is to engage my learners in all my courses and the bring the outside world in my online classroom. I organize courses and prepare learners on English literature and poetry, Modern Greek , Greek History and mythology , English as a second language .
