First Grade French Immersion Ongoing - Full Year Curriculum New version In the First Grade French Immersion Ongoing - Full Year Curriculum, learners are provided with a comprehensive and well-balanced educational experience in French. Each week introduces a new topic, encompassing diverse interests and subjects. Learners will engage in learning the French language, math, social science, science, and art, ensuring a holistic first-grade education. This program is designed to be a welcoming and safe environment for all students. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on the social development of students. Understanding the importance of social skills in first grade, each class begins with a period dedicated to social interaction. This allows learners to practice taking turns, listening actively, and collaborating. To maintain a high-quality learning environment, the use of the mute function for students will be limited to self-selection or in cases of disruptive background noise. It's recommended that lessons are taken in a quiet setting. To complement classroom learning, some lessons will be supported by PDF worksheets available for practice outside of class. A parent letter describing the forthcoming week's lesson topics will be posted on the classroom page every Sunday, fostering a continuous learning experience. With a focus on fun, interactive, and dynamic sessions, this curriculum is designed to engage students actively. While learners will not be pressured into verbal participation, encouragement towards active involvement will be a constant aspect of the class. Given the standalone nature of each week's lessons, new students can join at any time without the need for prior knowledge, ensuring flexibility and inclusivity. What Will We Learn? An overview of the week's lessons will be provided in the parent letters posted on the classroom page, including supplementary PDF worksheets for some of the lessons. Although not all lessons will have accompanying worksheets, a significant number will. In this class, we will occasionally use Nearpod, Canva and Kahoot Quizzes through a link that the teacher shares with the learner. The learner will not need to sign in.
