Welcome! I'm Teacher Jessie, and I believe children learn best when having fun. It is my mission to teach classes with enthusiasm and understanding to provide a welcoming and warm environment for all learners, and I pride myself in making my classes interactive with digital effects, games, and jokes to keep students engaged.
I've been teaching since 2013 in a variety of capacities, including homeschooling children in the entertainment industry, teaching preschool, teaching ESL online to children all over the world, as well as teaching neurodivergent children here in the USA. I am currently completing my Master's degree in speech language pathology and aim to provide speech therapy to learners of all abilities. That's right, learners, I'm a student too!
Every child deserves to be heard and celebrate, not just tolerated. Children of all abilities are welcome in my classroom. If there's a way I can modify my teaching style to best suit your learner, please reach out!
What kind of classes do I teach?
I specialize in teaching public speaking, world news, social skill strategies, and debate to students of all ages. Whether your child is just starting out or needs some extra support, I'm here to help them develop a love of learning and a deep understanding of the world around them.
In addition to my experience teaching a wide range of learners (and my two bachelor's degrees!), I am a a video game nerd who has been playing for over 16 years, a bookworm, and a chatterbox about subjects I'm passionate about, like critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and debate.
I believe that every child deserves an engaging and personalized learning experience that meets their individual needs and interests. I aim to create a safe and inclusive space where learners feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and explore their passions. I also strive to promote critical thinking, creativity, and a love of lifelong learning in all of my students.
Frequently Asked Questions:
"Uh-oh, we're going to miss class!"
If you are unable to make a class, please message me 24 hours before class. I will try my best to transfer your student to a different date and time. If you message after the 24 hours, I likely cannot issue a refund or transfer the student. Class recordings are automatically uploaded to the classroom tab within 24 hours of class time and are an excellent resource to catch up on what your learner missed.
"We have an urgent family emergency."
Reach out to me via a private message, and limited refunds will be given on a case-by-case basis. Life happens!
"I sent you a message, why haven't you responded?"
If you sent me a message, I will try to respond as quickly as possible. Please note that I am unavailable during the typical workweek, and it may take up to a week to receive a response. I am a one-woman show, so I humbly ask for your patience. If you have a pressing concern, feel free to label your message as urgent, or send a follow-up message. I am unable to message anyone when I am teaching courses so learners may have my full attention.
"I can't find the Zoom link/ I can't access the class!"
If you are experiencing technical concerns, please message Outschool's support team directly at support@outschool.com so they may assist you. Classes are accessed by clicking the "join class" button. Please do not save the link directly, as I have had students lose their place in ongoing courses by not joining via Outschool's classroom. I am unable to assist while teaching because I'm too focused on my learners!
