In this ongoing class, we will discuss different ghost stories, legends, myths, and folktales from all over the world. I will provide learners with background information, including story or creature origins, if they are known. I will then share one or more encounters on the week's topic which will be presented as sightings and scary stories. Learners will have a chance to ask questions and share their opinions as we go along. If they have any particular experience with the weekly topic- maybe they have encountered this ghost or cryptid or know someone who has- they will be able to share that as well.

For the last part of class, I will screenshare photos and videos from alleged encounters, if any are available and caught on tape. Learners will think critically and decide whether they think the videos/photos are real or fake and explain why. Ultimately, we will attempt to debunk and look for explanations of what was caught on camera and motives behind the tale. For example, La Llorona seems to have been created to keep kids from staying out too late and playing near water unsupervised.

Skills Practiced in this class include but are not limited to:
-Oral expression and comprehension
- Developing and sustaining foundational language skills including listening, speaking, and reading

Orientación para padres
Parental guidance is always suggested. Some of the stories may be scary to young learners and parents should look into the week's topic prior to class to ensure it is appropriate for their learner. Additionally, we may play a Kahoot! at times. You nor your learner need an account to play. I will share a link, you click it, enter a nickname, and we begin :)

This class presents an objective and historical view of the folklore discussed. To help us remain objective and accurate, stories will be gathered from sources directly related to the country/geographic area of origin. Some of these will include the a national heritage website from the country itself (Wales.com, guidetoiceland.is, italyheritage.com), anthropological journals (Anthrosource), and renowned compilations (Oxford World's Classics).
