Homework will be assigned daily on Khan Academy and will connect to our daily lessons. Students should expect to spend 10 - 20 minutes/day outside of class on their homework depending on their skill level, which allows for independent practice on the skills covered in that day's lesson. Khan Academy provides practice exercises and instructional videos and gives immediate feedback to the student if their solutions are correct or not. Khan Academy is an online tool that allows me to assess the student's strengths and see the exact problems they struggled with. Students will join my Khan Academy class with a code given that will be posted before the first day of class in the Outschool Classroom. Parents will also be given information on how to sign up to view their child's progress on Khan Academy.Evaluación
In addition to informally assessing the learner through class activities and participation, the student will be assessed through their homework exercises and quizzes on Khan Academy.Calificación
- Certificate of completion sent after the learner completes the class. - Parents may access student scores on learner's homework Khan Academy account. - Student progress report provided at the end of the 3-week session upon request.Experiencia de clase

This is a 15-session (3 week) class that will review Pre-Algebra concepts that are needed for Algebra 1. This class is best for students who will be starting Algebra 1 in the Fall as a refresher course or for strong students starting PreAlgebra in the Fall who desire a preview of Pre-Algebra concepts. DAY 1 • Identify Expressions, Equations, & Inequalities •. One-Step Equations DAY 2 • Combining Like Terms with Negative Coefficients • Combining Like Terms with Rational Coefficients DAY 3 • Distributive Property •. Equivalent Expressions DAY 4 • Two-Step Equations DAY 5 • Equations with Variables on Both Sides DAY 6 • One & Two Step Inequalities DAY 7 • Ratios •. Equivalent Ratio •. Equivalent Ratios Word Problems DAY 8 • Rates •. Unit Rates DAY 9 • Identifying Proportional Relationships • Constant of Proportionality DAY 10 • Writing & Solving Proportions • Proportion Word Problems DAY 11. • Square Roots • Cube Roots DAY 12 • Properties of Exponents DAY 13 • Negative Exponents DAY 14 • Linear Equations Word Problems • Writing & Solving Linear Functions Word Problems DAY 15 • CELEBRATIONS/REVIEW JEOPARDY We will start class each day with a "fun fact" of the day and then a quick "Homework Check-in", clarifying any questions from the previous night's assignment. The lesson will start with a spiral review of previous concept(s) followed by direct instruction of that day's concept and practice. Direct instruction will occur via Power Point presentations and problems from online sources, shared worksheets, and/or on the white board. Class will run for 50 minutes each day - with an additional 10 minutes available immediately after class for students who would like extra practice or help with a concept. We will review & celebrate the last day by playing Jeopardy:-)

Lista de útiles escolares
Students should have a notebook to write down our class work and notes on, as well as use it for their homework problems. Students should use either a pencil or erasable pen to keep their work clear and organized. A dry erase board and marker could also be used. Students will be provided with daily notes that will be available as part of their "Get Ready for Algebra! | Pre-Algebra Summer Math Review" Welcome Packet once they enroll. Students can either print out the notes or view them as a PDF on their device. A good idea would be to paste in the daily notes into a notebook as we go and then use following pages for their classwork and homework. Students will need to access www.khanacademy.org for daily homework. Instructions how to access Khan Academy are in the "Get Ready for Algebra! | Pre-Algebra Summer Math Review" Welcome Packet and will be on the Outschool Classroom. I will stay after our 1st class to make sure all students have successfully joined our Khan Academy class, so they are set for the first night's homework assignment.
