Each week students should plan on spending an hour watching the video and trying each of the new stitches. I would recommend additional time throughout the week students practice what they have learned.Evaluación

In this self-paced learning class, students will explore the art of embroidery. Over the course of six weeks, we will cover a comprehensive set of 12 basic embroidery stitches, enabling students to master the techniques required to create beautiful designs. The class is structured to accommodate various schedules, with prerecorded videos of myself demonstrating each stitch uploaded every Sunday. Throughout the week, learners will have the opportunity to practice the stitches at their own pace. Specifically, our topics and learning objectives for each week are as follows: Week 1: Threading the Needle and Basic Stitches Students will learn to thread the embroidery needle, set up fabric in an embroidery hoop, and master three basic stitches: running stitch and back stitch. Week 2: Additional Stitches We will explore more stitches, including the split stitch and stem stitch. Week 3: Two Final Outlining Stitches This week, students will learn the chain stitch and blanket stitch. Week 4: Decorative Stitches This week, students will learn to create decorative stitches, such as the woven wheel, and the lazy daisy. Week 5: Additional Fill and Decorative Stitches. This week, students will learn the fishbone stitch and the French knot. 6: Two Final Fill Stitches. This week, students will learn the two final fill stitches. These are the satin stitch and the long and short stitches. Finally, students will have the opportunity to bring their designs to life. In these two weeks, students will use their creativity as they use the embroidery stitches to create their very own embroidery designs. I will be available to answer questions and give feedback on designs. Throughout the course, I will be readily available to correspond with students and families through the classroom discussion board, responding to questions and providing feedback within 24 hours. No prior knowledge of embroidery is required to join this class. We will begin with the basics, including how to thread a needle, knot the thread, and load fabric into the embroidery hoop. As a high school Family and Consumer Science teacher, I have witnessed how embroidery can be both relaxing and a valuable self-care activity for students. Learning a new skill and completing a creative project will bring a sense of pride and accomplishment to our learners. So, get ready to pick up your needle, thread, and fabric, and let's dive into the world of embroidery together! I am thrilled to guide you through this artistic and fulfilling journey.

An Embroidery Hoop 4" or 6" will work sufficiently. 2 9"X9" pieces of fabric. The best fabric for embroidery practice I have found is muslin. For the final project, you may want to use a plain colored lightweight cotton. In my classroom, I use broad cloth. Embroider Needles. - I suggest purchasing a multi pack of embroider needles. Make sure they have the sharp end and will come in a range of sizes through 12. Having a variety of needle sizes will allow students to select the needle what will work best for the fabric they have chosen and the thickness of the embroidery floss. Embroidery floss in an assortment of colors. A light colored pencil or chalk. I find a yellow or white colored pencil works best on colored broadcloth. A regular pencil will work for the embroidery sampler if done on unbleached muslin.
