In this ongoing class, students will gather around for a virtual field trip through the United States National Parks to learn about the geologic history and understand the processes that created them. We will cover all 63 recognized National Parks in the NPS system in this course. Students will learn basic facts about the geography of the region and discover the geologic processes that drove the formation of each park. We will spend time identifying the features present and practice some map skills along our journey. We will discuss and understand things like national park stratigraphy, landforms, and animal and plant life, where applicable. Class meetings are a mix of videos for a virtual travel experience, informative slides, and discussion between the teacher and students. The students will have opportunities to ask questions or share their own experiences from their adventures in these parks. Our course meetings will follow an alphabetical schedule for easy tracking for each learner. Lista de útiles escolares
Students should have a 3 ring binder dedicated to this class. It is a good idea to have some erasable colored pencils as well. Any other supplies that may pop up due to projects students may want to do throughout the course will be listed with plenty of time to spare so that parents may gather them as needed. I try to use mostly things you have lying around the house because I do not like to ask parents to spend a lot of extra money outside of the course cost unless it is absolutely necessary for a better learning outcome. Since this course is somewhat learner directed, in that I allow students to suggest some ideas they are interested in, we may sometimes have the occasion to need an additional supply. If this is ever a concern, please reach out to me.

Students will be able to learn about the geology from a geologist who has worked in the field. I am passionate about teaching others about science. I am a homeschool mom and teach these same courses to my own children so they were written with them in mind. Rest assured that what your children are learning, I am also teaching my own. I feel very strongly about having a great education and I write my classes to include as much information as possible without making the class overwhelming. I do like to challenge students because I believe in them and their abilities. I am looking forward to meeting your child.
