Let's study the areas of Chemistry & Geology while uncovering the Periodic Table of Elements by incorporating full curriculum for learners. Your learner may join at any time, drop in, or stay for the entire 15 weeks.

💎Classes are very interactive with great discussions and sharing! Each week, students will engage in interactive, fun, and fascinating lessons while sharing their ideas about the periodic table and our specimen for that week. We will have a "Guess That Mineral" game in select weeks too. I will then provide additional materials for select classes to choose from at home, links to videos, games, and wonderful resources to explore this field deeper.

Providing students with the opportunity to explore these unique science topics is my passion! I love to share and connect with each student and guide them in their curiosity.

🔹️Students will have ample time to discuss and share their ideas through guided questions. They have the option to bring the particular specimen for the week with them to class. This is completely optional as there are so many different specimens. Since students learn differently, I will use a variety of images, simulations, demonstrations, and videos.

👉Class Format:
🔸️ Geology specimen of the week: (Example Amethyst)
🔸️Periodic Table Practice: element make-up of the geology specimen. (Amethyst is made of "?" element, but where does it get its color?)
🔸️Dig Deeper: Elements and origin? Investigation and discussion on how adding or removing a particular element could change our specimen. What are bonds and how do they happen? Exploration of atomic numbers, protons, and categories on the periodic table. Where might we find these particular elements we uncover in a specimen? We will even have the opportunity to annotate on-screen as we are discovering together!
*Please note not all topics will be discussed each week. I will guide our conversation depending on the student's questions.

Metas de aprendizaje
Students will engage in the discovery and investigation of various geology aspects as we explore the periodic table of elements. They will uncover new ideas and appreciate how a specific rock, gem, or crystal has formed.

Necesidades de aprendizaje
We have many modalities to use for learning in this class. Learners can draw, collaborate, create, as I guide through our sessions. Students will feel welcome and comfortable as we all learn from each other in our sessions.
Orientación para padres
**There are some video experiments that Chemists use under a controlled setting and may use the following: fire, dry ice, and other substances that students would only be viewing. Please let your child know that this would only be performed in a lab setting by a professional. I will stress this in class when we are learning about the various elements of the periodic table.
Lista de útiles escolares
Students can bring the rock of the week with them to share in class as we discover the elements together. They may want to bring paper and pencil, a copy of the periodic table, or anything specific related to our rock of the week. This is optional as I will have the information on-screen.
**Periodic table printout will be provided for students. They should bring this to class but will also be provided on-screen in class.

I love discovering new geological specimens with my students. My geology passion grew as my oldest son developed a love for the field. We worked alongside the curators at our local museum to learn from the masters in this area. My collection of specimens is from around the world and there are so many details to explore related to chemistry. I have hundreds of examples to share as we explore the various rocks, chemical elements, minerals, and uncover where elements originated.
