Welcome! I’m so excited you’re checking out one of my favorite classes to teach! In this engaging art and science class, students will explore biomes, ecosystems, and natural features through fun lessons and hands-on art projects. Each session kicks off with a friendly icebreaker to help everyone feel comfortable and excited. Then, we dive into a dynamic 15-minute(ish) Google Slides presentation packed with fascinating facts, visuals, and stories about the week's topic. For example, during Coral Reef Week, students will learn what coral reefs are, where they are located, why they’re important, how to preserve them, and fun facts about parrot fish—like how they eat coral and excrete it as sand to help replenish beaches! Next, students will create their own art project inspired by the topic, spending 25-35 minutes drawing, coloring, and getting creative! I’ll guide them step-by-step while encouraging them to personalize their projects with their own ideas. Throughout the session, I’ll offer helpful tips and positive feedback to support their creative process. The class wraps up with an open share, where students proudly show off their artwork to the group. A warm and supportive classroom ensures a fun and safe environment for young artists to learn and grow! Topics are always being added. Here are some of our next adventures: Week of March 17th: Sandbars Week of March 24th: Tide Pools Week of March 31st: Prairies Week of April 7th: No Class :( Week of April 14th: Deciduous Forests Week of April 21st: Grasslands Week of April 28th: Kelp Forest Week of May 5th: Rocky Tundra Week of May 12th: Mangroves Week of May 19th: Mudflat Ecosystems .....and more to come!

This class is close to my heart as it is born of my own travel experiences with my homeschooled children. We have traveled the world together and I have had the unique privilege of seeing their inner worlds expand as they have encountered the beauty and intrigue of places we do not call home. I have the wonderful opportunity to share personal stories from many of the locations I highlight in this class, which offers a refreshing perspective not found in the pages of a book!
