The Gamecraft Club will meet twice weekly on an ongoing basis. This social club will be a fun, educational, safe, and positive environment for lovers of all things gaming so they can learn and grow as a group of peers with similar interests. This is our opportunity to share our passion for gaming together in a safe space. All gaming platforms are welcome! Every session will be an interactive multi-media exploration of a daily theme/concept. The class experience will be a mix between lectures, discussion, hands-on activities, group work, the use of slide shows, video clips from documentaries and so much more. I encourage students to bring their own particular gaming interests/questions to the group whether it be personal stories, books, articles, images, shared live-play, or anything else a student may want to teach/explore/question with the club. Participation and discussion are strongly encouraged and will help make our club an enriching and entertaining environment where we can be passionate about our love of gaming. The following is a more detailed look at the first seven weeks and the topics we will cover: Week 1: 3/6-3/11 History of Video Games In our first week, we will examine the fascinating history of video games from the very first arcade to the most advanced platform currently existing. We will also touch upon the future of gaming and what we might expect to experience. Week 2: 3/12-3/18 Your Favorite of All-Time~! In our second week, everyone will have an opportunity to take turns sharing their favorite game(s) and getting to know each other's interests. Week 3: 3/19-3/25 Design your own video game The third week will be an engaging, creative exercise in which we brainstorm our own video game ideas and create a plan and presentation for your creation. Week 4: 3/26 -4/1 Little Alchemy 1 & 2 In the fourth week of the club, we will explore a free online game called Little Alchemy 1 & 2. It is a challenging, educational game of creating elements by mixing the right ingredients. Week 5: 4/2 - 4/8 Mars Horizon In the fifth week, we play a space agency simulator called Mars Horizon. The goal is to operate a space agency during the cold war space race by creating and launching rockets. The game also involves additional strategies in the use of research points and funding. Week 6: 4/9-4/15 Secret codes & levels Our sixth week will be a mysterious, and curious session devoted to sharing secret codes, levels, and passwords for all games. We will even look at some short documentaries on some of the most famous video game mysteries. Week 7: 4/16-4/22 Minecraft Mania! Minecraft will be the subject of our seventh week of meetings. Students can show off their personal projects and offer secrets, tips, and other advice to their peers. We will even look at a short history of the game as it is over ten years old, at this point. Future sessions include, but are not limited to: Week 8: 4/23-4/29 Battlefield Simulators Week 9: 5/1-5/6 Flight Simulators Week 10: 5/7-5/13 Adventure Games Week 11: 5/14-5/20 Educational Simulations Week 12: 5/21-5/27 Horror/Paranormal Games Week 13: 5/28-6/3 Sports-based Gaming

I am a friendly, articulate, professional, college-educated teacher, and artist versed in a variety of disciplines, a "Renaissance Man" at heart. As Ben Franklin was quoted: "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest". I'm very patient and dedicated to finding innovative and creative ways to educate those I am teaching. I have both practical experience and theoretical training in the education of individuals with both Learning Disabilities & Developmental Disabilities.
I am an experienced educator with a bachelor's of science from Ithaca College. I'm currently working towards my Master's Degree in Education with over three years of study so far and my dissertation remaining. In addition to that work, as a graduate student, I consistently seek out workshops and webinars that provide additional certifications for educators.
My experience as an educator includes teaching at both public and private schools as well as tutoring students in STEAM subjects including SAT/GRE/ACT/ & AP prep, I have experience and training in teaching individuals with both Learning Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities. I have also volunteered my time in my local community library by organizing workshops on STEAM topics for children.
As an educator, it's my goal to stimulate my student's curiosity and to encourage persistence and determination in achieving their goals. I would like for my students to experience the empowerment of conquering ignorance and the joy in discovery and epiphany. In short, I want to open, stimulate, and expand young minds.
