1-2 horas por semana. Homework will be assigned each Thursday for ALL enrolled students and will be due the following Tuesday. These assignments will be mini pro practice projects related to the classwork that we will be doing the day that they are due. For this reason, it is critical that your student have all of their materials on hand. Assignments will be checked and noticed if the student cannot perform the next practice task. Accommodations can be made for most tasks in the event of absences, however.Calificación

No current background knowledge is needed for this course- just a curiosity for science and a natural talent for art! This work can be frustrating at times, but once you get it, it can be so very rewarding! Even though this class is only 8 weeks long and is NOT a licensing program, you will be exposed to several topics in the nail industry including acrylic application and nail art! Teaching Approach and Structure: We will begin with an icebreaker or related discussion question. The class will then have a short lecture on the topic and take notes (draw pictures, define key terms, sequence important steps) Teacher demonstration Student Practical I will have a document camera attached to my computer for a clear and zoomed in experience for the learners. They can ask questions and show me their work throughout the lesson. It is highly encouraged. (Students will also be talked through their processes and given reminders and they practice the craft). I am very animated and silly and come up with clever ways for students to remember the material. Reteaching and Reviewing will end the class for the day. I will also give the homework assignments for students to practice and have ready for the next class. Because each lesson builds upon the next, it is crucial that students practice and bring their best to the next meeting. For example, If we are working in nail art for the next class, the homework may be to prepare 5 sculpted nails to complete the art on. If you are just beginning, this could take multiple hours to perfect and we only have one hour together per session, so we must maximize our time. Be sure to come with your: computer charged nail materials and notebook ready and your passion!

The student will be able to understand the difference between cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing.
The student will be able to properly recognize the basic implements used in the nail industry in daily practice.
The student will have a better understanding of liquid to powder ratio when working with monomer liquid and polymer powder for the best nail adhesion.
The student will be exposed to several techniques to preform nail art.
The student will understand the steps to preform a basic manicure according to the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology.
The student will be able to create any shape of nail from a square tip with a hand file and a straight edge nail clipper.

There is a familiar smell with the purple liquid known as monomer. Be sure your area is well ventilated. The best way to dispose of used monomer is on a paper towel (not down the sink or toilet). Place this paper towel in a plastic bag and take to an outside receptacle.

My 11 year background in education was mostly spent in the wonderful world of Kindergarten. For the least two years, I've had the pleasure of teaching public school on line in addition to finishing a nail tech program outside of my full-time job. I am not combining my skill of teaching, love of art and nails with my natural bond with children. The business of nails can take a long time to perfect.
