Is your learner just beginning to read? If so, they will soon need to know “sight words”, or words they should know just by looking, without making the sounds of each letter to figure it out. 

This ongoing class will work on a different set of five sight words in the Dolch Pre-Primer list each week. Students should have mastered identifying most of the 26 letters of the alphabet to be successful in this class.

Every student will get a turn to SEE/ SPELL/ SAY each new word, then write it in the air or on paper or a whiteboard at home. We will then play a variety of games including Spot It (find the correct word among several on the screen), Shape Puzzles (write the correct sight word in the matching shape according the the size of each letter), Riddles (which word starts with a letter /t/ and has three letters), and reading sentences containing target sight words with picture clues!
