4. When is a performance judged ready to present? How do context and the manner in which musical work is presented influence audience response? 

Expand your knowledge of percussion instruments to the pitched percussion section. This includes xylophones, marimbas, bells, glockenspiel, piano. You may bring 1 instrument or switch between instruments every week. The constant is the music and the elements. If you are switching between instruments, there is a greater dependency from the learner to engage and think through the transfer elements. 

Participants will study 3 pieces of personally selected music. This music is an additional cost to the course and we will study all 3 at the same time, drawing connections and transferring the knowledge and discussion of music elements of pitch, rhythm, and structure.

We will draw themes upon the similarities and address technical differences based on the conversations brought to the table by the learner and their instrument.

The selected musical repertoire will drive our conversation of the identification of musical elements: rhythm, pitch, structure.

By the end of this course, learners will have the confidence to perform comfortably threading together transfer skills of music on keyboard instruments.

Unidad 1: Structure
Lección 1:
Pitch organization
 What are the parallels between the organization of the piano and mallet instruments? Apply our knowledge of pitch, range, and intervals to play familiar tunes on any keyboard-organized instrument.

Patterns
 Find the patterns that help make music interesting. What are the factors we need to consider? As we build our analysis list, bring your personalized repertoire selections so we can transfer fundamentals into music you know and love.

Lección 3:
Melodies
 Quickly identify the motion of a melody by applying your knowledge of skips and steps. We will use sight techniques and visual to sound connections to help us find and learn the notes we need to play our music and make the song sound like the song we want.

Chords
 Chords and their patterns need a different type of decision making. What are the considerations needing to be made and how is that different across keyboard instruments. Who do you need to collaborate with to create the sound you want?

This is a performance music class. Please plan for the environment of your learner and for all members of your household. Participation in this class will increase the level of sound in your environment.

Experience reading music for rhythm and/or pitch.
