If your learner loves being read to, they will enjoy hearing multiple stories throughout this course. Each session will begin with the teacher reading and showing pictures of a children’s book to students. The teacher will facilitate discussion about the friendship themes found in the books, including kindness, generosity, inclusion, and diversity. Not only will learners have the opportunity to identify friendship themes in each book, they will discuss real-life examples of these themes, and they will have the opportunity to share related personal experiences with the class. Students will get to practice conversation skills such as listening and taking turns, as well as some of the friendship themes found in the weekly stories. The goal of the teacher is that each student feels their voice is heard and that they gain an increased understanding of the importance of kindness, generosity, inclusion, and diversity. Books by week include: Week 1: “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister Week 2: “The New Kid and the Cookie Thief” by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen Week 3: “The Invisible Boy” by Trudy Ludwig

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Educación desde University of the Cumberlands
I have counseled students in a camp setting for many years, from early elementary to high school students. Themes noted in this class, such as kindness, generosity, inclusion, and diversity, are crucial to a camp setting in order for students to live and interact with one another for a week. I have also worked in a daycare setting, taught piano lessons to youth and adults, taught at an outdoor science school, served as the Director of Youth & Children’s Ministries at a church, and recently student taught in both reading and math classrooms in order to complete my MA in Teaching. I look forward to working with your learner!
