Experiencia de clase

Over the course of 4 meetings, food detectives will investigate the health benefits of 6 different colors of fruits and vegetables. The first 3 weeks, they will learn about two colors of foods and how they help our bodies.
They will discuss which foods are those colors, which of those color foods they have eaten, may learn about foods from different countries or how other people enjoy those foods.

During the week, the food detectives will investigate 4 foods of the colors discussed in the last meeting. They will complete food investigation logs that include drawing the food, describing what the food looks, smells, fells, and tastes like in preparation to share their findings at the next detective meeting.

In the food detective meetings, detectives who have completed their investigation logs will be able to mark off the appropriate squares on their Eat the Rainbow BINGO cards, hopefully ending in a "rainbow out" where they have investigated 4 foods of each color category.

Week 1: Red and orange Foods
Week 2: Yellow and green Foods
Week 3: Blue/purple/black and white/tan/brown Foods
Week 4: Wrap up

Parents of food detectives will need to ensure that their detective has the opportunity to investigate 4 foods of the color category during the week. These can be foods that have eaten before or you can take the opportunity to encourage them to try new foods in the color category. Foods can be cooked or raw, but should be presented in such a way that the individual food is experienced. The requirement is to complete the food logs.
Metas de aprendizaje
Know how different color foods are good for their bodies.
Know how to describe foods (not whether or not they like them).
