Experiencia de clase

This is a FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE CLASS, which means there are NO LIVE CLASSES. Students will be able to take the course at their convenience. Each week I will present my video tutorial in the Outschool classroom. Students will be required to share their completed assignments with the class during the week by uploading a picture or video to our classroom on Outschool so that your fellow students and I can discuss and admire your work! Students will also be required to complete various quizzes and worksheet assignments given.

After watching instructional videos each week students will have a quiz given to them and a variety of assignments to demonstrate their understanding of the material. This includes recordings of the student completing particular skills. Students will also be expected to participate in a weekly discussion about that week's material and their personal experience creating the project.

Because this is a flex class there are no live meetings; however I am always available to answer your questions at any time during the 8 weeks of class. I will also be posting various tips and tricks, suggestions, and encouragement in the classroom throughout the course.

Course Schedule:
Week 1
This week will focus on the various types of sewing machines, their anatomy, and what each part of the machine will do. We will discuss the tools needed to sew as well as what is needed to create the basic starter kit. Students will be required to upload a video of themselves threading their machine and winding the bobbin. Students will be given a quiz to assess their understanding of the material.

Week 2
This week we learn how to read the fabric bolt and we will look at the various types of fabric used for sewing. We'll learn how to handle them, cut them, and what types of needles are used for each. Students will be given a quiz to assess their understanding of fabric types and the appropriate needles to use.

Week 3
This week we will actually get on the sewing machine. We'll learn about the basic stitches, and when to use them as well as learning how to sew in a straight line, and pivot. Students will be given worksheets designed to allow them to practice these skills and a quiz to assess their understanding of the material.

Week 4
This final week we will work on a simple project which is corner bookmark holders. Students will be required to post a picture of their finished creation and share their thoughts on what they learned over the past 4 weeks.
