Part 2 of 4 This is the second 4 week section of a 4 part course. If you have not taken part 1, please look through our class listings page and start at the beginning to enjoy the full course. Are you looking for a class that will help your student think big and change the world? Look no further! In this 16-week class, our experienced instructor will teach your student how to identify and analyse social and environmental issues, think creatively to develop innovative solutions, and communicate and implement their ideas. With no formal grades or tests, learners will have the freedom to explore and develop their own ideas. And with a flexible, pre-recorded format, students can complete the class at their own pace and on their own schedule. Join us for Big Ideas to Change the World - The Class That Helps You Think Bigger! In this class, students will learn how to think bigger by exploring innovative ideas that can change the world. The class will be divided into the following weeks and topics: Week 5: Identifying and analyzing environmental issues We'll shift our focus to environmental issues. We'll discuss the science behind climate change, its impacts, and potential solutions. We'll also explore the issue of deforestation, discussing its causes, effects, and ways to mitigate it. Lastly, we'll delve into the topic of biodiversity loss, looking at why biodiversity is important, the factors contributing to its loss, and what can be done to preserve it. Week 6: Developing original ideas to address these social and environmental issues Using the knowledge gained in the previous weeks, students will start developing their own ideas to address the social and environmental issues discussed. Week 7: Building problem-solving skills We'll focus on enhancing problem-solving skills, teaching students how to approach complex issues and develop effective solutions. Week 8: Collaborating with others to implement these ideas In the final week, we'll discuss how to work with others to implement the ideas developed, focusing on skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership. By the end of the class, students will have a better understanding of how to think bigger and develop ideas that can make a difference in the world. They will have developed essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and effective communication. Join us for a course that will inspire and empower your student to think bigger and make a difference. The social and environmental issues that will be brought up during the course of this class include poverty, inequality, social justice, climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. These topics will be covered in weeks 4 and 5 of the course. The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions. Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week.
