Founding Fathers, Rough Riders, Manifest Destiny and breaker of chains comprise the top five presidents in U.S. History. George Washington created the presidency while Abraham Lincoln kept the country together. Thomas Jefferson and James Polk expanded our borders and Teddy Roosevelt launched the U.S. into a 20th-century superpower.

These five men are often rated among America’s greatest presidents for their fearless leadership and unquenchable thirst for more. That’s why each is remembered for their White House successes plus their personal stories through photos in the lecture.

Unfortunately, even great men have stains. We'll discuss slave owning by Washington, Jefferson and Polk plus American Indian policies by each president were also harmful to native tribes.

Students can ask questions throughout class or even beforehand to ensure their learning goals are met. And, we'll review near the end to ensure everyone understands key points.
