In this class, we will dig into the content and instructional practices that students would receive within a brick and mortar classroom for their science block. We cover an entire science curriculum guided by the standards. Our instructional focus will support learners who are working on a first grade level or students needing standards based support for a first grade student. - For my standards based approach, I will be supporting the Next Generation and Florida Standards for First Grade. By the end of this course, students will be working towards mastery and independence on the skills linked to standards listed for each week.
I’m a compassionate and charismatic teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade students for the last 14 years. In that time, I have been a general education teacher in the public schools setting for 10 years. Two of those years, I was a reading specialist. I have been teaching online since February 2020. I’m certified to teach Elementary education from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I absolutely love teaching First Grade. I taught First Grade for 8 years, in the public school setting and 4 years on Outschool. It is one of my favorite grades to teach. One of the largest academic transformations occurs in First Grade. I’m looking forward to sharing this fun class with your wonderful student!
Supplies will vary based on each week and optional aid that students can bring to class. We will be using a journal often for class. It can be a standard wide rule journal for class notes, foldables, and data sheets to be placed in. -scissors -glue -crayons Animal Adaptation materials for July 22- 26 -small or medium size animal or toy figurine with feet -piece of paper -paper plate or tray -flour ½ cup - 1 cup -ruler -scissors -tape Materials for making ice cream for July 29- August 2: -1/2 cup half and half -¼ teaspoon vanilla -1 Tablespoon sugar -3 cups ice cubes -⅓ cup kosher or rock salt -Gallon/ large size ziplock bag(s) -Quart/ small size zip top bag(s) -Sprinkles, chocolate sauce, fruit (optional topping ingredients)
