Welcome to First Grade Math: Full Curriculum Part 1! This course is 12 weeks long and will cover the first three units of First Grade math. We will meet four times a week for 30 minutes. During this time we will do whole group activities as well as independent practice. Whole group activities will include interactive slides, hands on learning and a lot of games! We will even make our own manipulatives!  Independent practice will include hands-on practice as well as worksheets that will be reviewed at the end of each class when there is time or uploaded to the classroom for feedback. 

Unit One:

Subitizing and looking for patterns
Using addition or subtraction to put together or take apart.
Using Number bonds
Adding and subtracting -using strategies
Adding and subtracting -fluency

Unit Two: 
Add and subtract- using strategies
Use addition and subtraction within word problems
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract
Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem

Unit Three:
Counting to 120 starting at any number less than 120.
Understanding place value
Composing and decomposing teen numbers and counting on
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represents amounts of tens and ones
Subtracting multiples of 10
Comparing two-digit numbers using <,>,=

Unit Four:
Comparing three objects by length
Addition fluency
Express length of objects as a whole number unit

Her most recent brick and mortar experience was working as a special education teacher for students in kindergarten through third grade. She has been teaching on Outschool for the past year. She loves to teach and share her passion for learning with her students. It is Ms. Katelynn's goal to show her students that they can be successful in the classroom and help them gain the confidence they need to do so!
