New Years Update
I have had several students request that this course should be longer, so I have rewritten it with fourteen weeks of new content.

My name is Teacher Phoebe and I have always wanted to create an etiquette class to pass on the gifts of my very unique upbringing. I have had a very international life and lived and worked in many different countries but I was brought up in a traditional English family. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized not everybody knew all the rules of a formal dinner party at eight years old!

The fundamentals of etiquette are a life skill that will open many doors for young people when they apply to college and eventually pursue a career. Also from my personal experience if they travel or work abroad they will be defter at picking up cultural niches in the countries they visit and be accepted more warmly and graciously by new friends and International employers alike.
I want young people to feel more confident in their skin and improve their communication skills, this class has evolved into something I could not have predicted. The feedback I received from students is that it is a niche, unforgettable experience that has fundamentally changed them.

Week One Introductions
In this introductory class, I will teach your daughter how to introduce and assert herself in a confident, natural way. A vitally important social skill that allows her to gently but potently assert her boundaries in social settings. This is also an opportunity for the participating students to get to know one another and have natural but meaningful conversations from the comfort of their homes. This class has been very effective for girls who are nervous or uncertain in social situations, especially when they are talking to adults or their peers.

Week Two Poise and perfect posture
I was taught how to walk gracefully and elegantly the old-fashioned way, balancing a book on my head! This is an extremely effective way of aligning your daughter's spine so she can hold herself gracefully, move forward, and undertake public speaking or other anxiety-inducing social situations with natural confidence. This can feel like a fun and silly group activity your daughter will love but if she keeps practicing she will receive the most amazing compliments over the next few months!

Week Three
Meeting new people and cultivating your sense of self within groups
In this class we will discuss ways in which we can introduce ourselves to new people and challenge ourselves to create new relationships outside of our comfort zone. This is particularly helpful to those students who are socially anxious and worry about walking into a room full of strangers. We will also be discussing how to hold your own when talking to a group of people, we know how to deal with rudeness but what about our social presence? This is an important skill for college and the working world you need to hone so you don't feel intimidated.

Week Four
The Power of Politeness, and the Art of Social Self-defense
Often a polite person can be misinterpreted as someone who is docile or even pliable, but growing up I saw my calm, charming Great Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents command any social situation with incredible skill and prowess. We can always hope that as children go out into the world they will meet people who are kind and respectful. It is useful, however, to be armed with communication skills or a social toolbox to protect them from crass, rude, or disrespectful encounters. One of the lost arts that young girls learned at etiquette school was self-defense, how to uphold their boundaries in a social setting this also allows others to really 'meet' them.

Week five
Making friends and cultivating a social circle
In this class, we will take the existing skills your children already have and cultivate them to build and maintain meaningful relationships with others. British people are naturally reserved and our ability to meet new people is usually through groups, social clubs, and dinner parties. I can teach your son or daughter the necessary skills to help you to be discerning and with good boundaries and communication skills, understand the kind of social circle they would like to cultivate.

Week Six
Developing cultural sensitivity
We live in a global world and a highly prized skill is understanding the cultural niches of other countries and cultures. You will develop relationships so much faster if you master this, an absolute must if you are planning to live or work abroad.

Week Seven
Dining Etiquette and planning a formal English dinner party
In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of formal table manners, every course at a dinner party including table settings, how to pair drinks and food together, and appropriate seating arrangements. Remember that this class is very detailed, your daughter should take notes but also remember that they can rewatch the class as many times as they need to when planning their own dinner party.

Week Eight Finding Your style through Formalwear
This class is centered around a lecture on the history of formal clothing in Britain and how it has evolved in modern times. This class is highly interactive and I encourage students to show examples of their own wardrobe. I will show them how they can adapt pieces in different settings. We will also look at the work of some of Britain's most influential designers to educate and inspire your daughter.

Week Nine An old-fashioned grooming Routine
In this class, we will look at grooming and bathing rituals from different cultures and tailor them into an amazing self-care routine that your daughter can use when she is feeling busy and overwhelmed. This includes the art of the communal hammam and how to regulate their hormones during moments of crisis.

Week Ten
The art of Perfume and scent layering
A personal passion of mine and a very significant right of passage in a young person's life, finding your signature scent not only helps you understand your own palette but also that our non-verbal language has a more powerful impact on others than our words. I will help them understand their 'olfactory imprint' and how this will help them discover wonderful niche houses that suit their palette and begin building their first small collection.

Week Eleven
 Written correspondence
One of the most important parts of etiquette is the relationships you form and vitally maintain over the course of your life. Your daughter will fall in love with written correspondence and a new way of expressing herself while enriching her relationships with her friends and family.

Week Twelve
The person you are becoming
I'm afraid this is our very last lesson, everyone! I shall be sad to say goodbye to you all but the last lesson is fun, I promise! First, we will have a 'posture competition' where I test who has been practicing with their book daily. Please bring some food and drink for the second half of the lesson where we will talk together about your dreams, the things you would love to do, and what your life will look like when you are older. I also pass on a unique writing activity I learned at RADA which helps them understand what they truly want to do when they grow up and start living their own lives.
I hope this class has given you the opportunity to pursue your goals with more confidence and self-esteem!

*Disclaimer, this class does deal with traditions that are gendered and therefore use traditional pronouns, however, I would like to emphasize this is for historical accuracy. Anyone who identifies as male, female, or non-binary is welcome in all my classes!

I understand that this class is a financial investment for parents and I would hate for any eager children to miss out on the opportunity because of financial uncertainty. Please feel free to message me to discuss financing options, I am always here and very happy to help.

I am a second-generation deportment school attendee, these schools still exist in England but I feel it is important that these messages are passed on to younger generations so they are not forgotten.
