In this asynchronous budgeting class for middle schoolers, students will learn essential financial skills to prepare them for adulthood. Key topics include budgeting with the 50/30/20 rule, saving for college, investment principles (stocks, bonds, ETFs, and mutual funds), and responsible use of debit and credit cards. The class is structured into five weekly lessons, each focusing on a core financial concept. Every week, students will complete a homework assignment to apply their new knowledge, building towards a final comprehensive financial plan. Lessons will be delivered through recorded Zoom videos that incorporate slides, real-world examples, and short video clips to explain concepts clearly. While the class is asynchronous, students will have opportunities to submit questions and assignments, receiving personalized feedback from me. Each lesson will emphasize practical skills and encourage independent thinking. My teaching style is engaging and approachable, designed to break down complex financial topics into understandable and relatable segments. Though the class is self-paced, students will get feedback on their work, ensuring they feel supported throughout the course.
