Welcome to Finance and Money Club: S&P 500 Stock Market Sectors! with Teacher John! Our "Finance & Money Club" will talk about sectors of the stock market. I do not endorse any company. This is a general class/beginner class. For instance, in our Utilities class, we'll draw a home and common appliances that use electricity as well as objects that use water/natural gas. This is not a class about investing. I'd be happy to find a different class for your learner if you need more advance material. My experience with the stock market is through reading several investment and day-trading books along with actually day-trading currencies like the Euro and Yen and US Dollar along with some stocks. In this class learners will get to learn about stock market sectors, the economy, finance and money! We will cover the 11 sectors of the S&P 500 including: Utilities, Energy, Communication Services, Consumer Staples, Financials, Information Technology, Health Care, Materials, Real Estate, Consumer Discretionary and Industrials. While this may seem like a big topic to cover for younger learners, I will teach it in a manner where the can draw goods or services produced from these sectors and their industries in a manner that is understandable to young learners. For instance, with Industrials we may draw cars and planes. For Communication Services, we may cover telephone and television. In Consumer Staples, we will cover toothpaste and sodas. I teach on a level that young children will understand. Start Times: Week of May 8th: Utilities Week of May 15th: Communication Services Week of May 22nd: Consumer Staples Week of May 29th - Health Care Lesson 5 - Consumer Discretionary Lesson 6 - Industrials Lesson 7 - Financials and Real Estate Lesson 8 - Materials and Energy Lesson 9 - Technolgy/Robotics Lesson 10 - Supply/Demand, Currencies and Review And So On.. After 10 weeks, the topics will cycle back to the beginning and new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks after May 29th. Students will be able to creatively use their imagination to draw the objects and share them in class. Learners will get the opportunity to comment on the teacher's drawings as well. Learners may interact with the puppets from class in order to help prompt discussion. Learners are encouraged to draw their own interpretation of the objects we discuss. Learners are encouraged to understand how to "unmute" if called upon in class as occasionally we will have to use the "mute all" function if there is excessive background noise. Most of our classes are listed under the “Arts” or “Life Skills” categories, so my goal is to inspire learners to use their imagination and curiosity when drawing rather than a class that presents specific facts. We utilize a casual drawing atmosphere rather than instruction on the specifics of drawing technique or artistic technique. Most of our classes utilize a digital timer from the teacher’s screen, giving each learner a few minutes to draw and then share their drawing if they would like to. It is okay if they do not finish the drawing or if they want to keep drawing the previous topic while other learners continue drawing. We usually will share our drawings with the class and then move to the next topic after most learners have finished sharing. The order for each week may vary and the lists may combine pending unforeseen circumstances. The teacher reserves the ability to combine material at the teacher's discretion. Outschool is a phenomenal resource with classes for many ages. While it is my goal to to foster learning and play in my classes, feel free to message me for recommendations of other teachers on Outschool who are great instructors with: dance, singing, acting, piano, violin, drum, exercise, gymnastics, sign language, STEM, robotics, sports, skateboarding, summer camps, mindfulness, manners and more.
