Qué está incluido

12 reuniones en vivo
11 horas presenciales
Tarea
2-4 horas por semana. Homework will consist of reading four chapters a week and writing a narration for one or two of those chapters each week in the narration journal. An audiobook may be used, but make sure it's unabridged, so you get the whole story. The student may read the book or have it read aloud to them. Some weeks will have an additional assignment from the narration journal for writing about favorite parts of the story or other extra writing assignments.
Evaluación
The written narrations will be part of the assessment process. The other assignments will also be used to assess progress. It will be an informal assessment with lots of affirmation for effort and a few suggestions for improvement.

Grado de EE. UU. 6 - 9
We will read 4 chapters a week for 12 weeks. During the last week, students should watch at least one version of the movie and write about the differences between the book and the movie. If you watch 2 different versions, compare them with each other and the book. In our narration journals, we will write summaries of one chapter each week. During our meeting times, students may volunteer to read their narrations, and we will discuss what happened in the story and the story elements we notice in the story, such as setting, character development, plot, tone, theme, conflict, and point of view. We will make predictions and look for figurative language. In our narration journals, we will copy favorite quotes and do some copywork from the story. We will write about a favorite character, a favorite scene, and a lesson learned. Some may want to write an alternate ending. For the artists among us, there will be an opportunity to draw pictures to go with the story. We will look for ways to apply what we learn from this story in our own lives.
