Grado de EE. UU. 4 - 7
In this self-paced class, learners will explore the journey food takes from the farm to their table. Through engaging, teacher-created videos. We'll delve into key topics like stewardship practices, animal welfare, and how to interpret food labels. We'll discuss important terms and phrases commonly seen on labels, such as "antibiotic-free," and unpack why some of these claims can be misleading. For example, we’ll break down why all milk is antibiotic-free, despite what some labels suggest.

To help learners critically assess food information, I’ll provide a credibility checklist to address common misconceptions. The class is designed to present topics from a farmer's perspective, helping learners make informed choices that align with their values and needs.

Class is structured through pre-recorded videos.
Optional credibility checklist for critical analysis of food information.
Since this is a self-paced class with no specific deadlines it makes it flexible for busy schedules.

Teaching style:
My teaching approach is conversational and engaging, designed to make complex topics easy to understand. Learners are encouraged to think critically and reflect on what they learn through guided discussion questions.

Interaction with the teacher:
Although this is an asynchronous class, learners will have opportunities to interact with the teacher in the classroom.

Orientación para padres
There will be some sensitive topics. I will not show or talk about the process of butchering but talk more about the caring for the animals plus the cuts of meat from each animal. Also, food labels may be a sensitive topic. I will talk about it from the farming perspective.

I was born, raised and still live on a farm. My dad came from a long line of farmers. He raised cattle and grew crops such as soybeans and corn. My husband and I live on a farm and raise quarter horses. We do help our neighbors our by taking care of their bottle calves if something happens to the mother.
