Learners will learn the process of how food gets from the farm to their table. The class will insist of reading books, watching videos and discussion questions. Interaction between learners and teacher will be in the Outschool classroom. There will be a pre-lesson trivia and a post lesson trivia game to see how they have improved their knowledge. I will also include mini lessons hosted on YouTube. The class will discuss stewardship practices, animal welfare, food labels, terminology to watch for and how to choose the right foods for them. *There may be some controversial issues. Example: Label saying antibiotic free on milk is misleading because all milk is antibiotic free. I will talk through why that label is misleading. I will give the students a credibility checklist to address misconceptions. The class will be viewed from the farmer's perspective. No farming background is needed for this class. Everyone is welcomed to join. My mini lessons will be hosted on YouTube. This class is scheduled as a self paced class for your convenience. Self paced classes means there will be no live meetings. The work is asynchronous and all activities will take place in the classroom portal not in zoom. The course is great for busy families. emails try to answer within 24 hours.
