This is a 3-Day Course. Students will meet 3 times in a week to complete Part 1. In this exciting 3-day course, students will embark on a creative journey to transform a real-life animal into a fantastical creature. Beginning with the study of snakes, students will learn the fundamentals of anatomy, movement, and texture. Week 1Lesson 1Understanding Snakes• Observing and sketching snake anatomy. • Understanding reptile features and texture. • Basic sketching and shading techniques.Lesson 2Transforming Reptiles to Dragons• Identifying the key features to transform a snake into a dragon. • Adding fantasy elements like wings, horns and limbs. • Creative modification of anatomy while preserving fundamental structure.Lesson 3Detailing and Finalizing the Dragon• Finalizing fantasy creature illustrations. • Adding textures and fine details to dragon designs. • Feedback and student showcase.
- Students will start by observing and sketching a real-life snake, understanding their anatomy, movement, and texture. This foundational understanding will serve as a basis for transforming them into dragons.
Teacher Brittany is a professional artist and illustrator. She holds a BA in Arts with a concentration on Visual Technology. She also gained valuable industry experience as Technology Lead and Animation Instructor at art schools. She has worked as a freelance concept artist and illustrator in game design. She utilizes a background in comics, storyboarding and animation to bring creative concepts to life. With a strong background in traditional and digital painting, Brittany is currently teaching a wide variety of classes in various mediums to merge her love for illustration, painting and game development.
