Hello! In this One-Time class, learners ages 5-10 will explore r-controlled vowels in a fun and interactive way! We will discuss various r-controlled vowels that make the same sound and discuss how, in some cases, the same trigraph can make different sounds. We will explore each trigraph through the use of discussion, flashcards, slides, and interaction with one another. We will also play a game with r-controlled vowels to reinforce and solidify learning! I believe meeting students where they are at academically is so important and I will be accessing throughout class to determine the next direction that instruction should take. I also believe it is paramount that learning be engaging, so we will be having fun in class! Please join me on this journey of Fantastic Phonics: R-Controlled Vowels! I am a certified K-5 teacher and licensed to teach all core subjects. I have experience with using many methods of Reading and Math intervention. I am ADD+Vantage math trained and have experience writing and carrying out IEPs for students. I taught in the classroom for six years and have been teaching a total of 10 years and counting.
A majority of my experience in the classroom has been teaching ELL learners and this is an area that I am passionate about. I hold a Foundational and Advanced TESOL certification and have training in many programs for ELL students.
