In our class on false cognates between Spanish and English, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how similar-looking words can have different meanings. We'll cover various types of false cognates, from common examples to more subtle ones, and explore their impact on both written and spoken Spanish.

**Class Structure and Topics:**

1. **Introduction to False Cognates**: We'll start by defining false cognates and explaining why they can be confusing. This foundational knowledge will set the stage for more detailed exploration.

2. **Common False Cognates**: Students will examine frequently encountered false cognates, such as "actual" (which means "current" in Spanish) and "library" (which translates to "biblioteca" rather than "librería").

3. **Contextual Understanding**: We’ll dive into the nuances of these words with real-world examples, helping students understand how context changes meaning.

4. **Interactive Practice**: Through targeted exercises, including fill-in-the-blank activities and translation tasks, students will practice distinguishing between false cognates and their true meanings.

5. **Games and Activities**: We’ll incorporate engaging games and role-playing scenarios to make learning fun and reinforce correct usage in context.

**Teaching Methodology and Style:**

- **Interactive Learning**: Our class is designed to be highly interactive. Expect a mix of lectures, hands-on activities, and group discussions to ensure active participation.

- **Real-World Application**: We emphasize practical application through discussion and role-playing exercises that mimic real-life conversations and writing tasks.

- **Continuous Feedback**: Students will receive regular feedback through quizzes and in-class activities, allowing them to gauge their understanding and improve continuously.

By blending structured lessons with interactive elements, our class aims to make the learning process both effective and enjoyable, helping students navigate the complexities of false cognates with ease.
