What are fallacies? A fallacy is an error in reasoning that undermines an argument. In other words, they are bad arguments! They can be sometimes hard to spot, but once you get the gist, finding them is tons of fun! Here is an example: Johnny needs a haircut. He doesn't know anything about politics. This is the "Ad Hominem" Fallacy, which instead of addressing someone's argument, you attack the person or some aspect of the person who is making the argument. In order to really learn about fallacies and spotting them in arguments, it's good to break each fallacy down. In this class, students will learn the names of 6 common fallacies and identify them in arguments. We will look at the argument where a fallacy occurs and how the arguer is attempting to justify his conclusion. Then, students will put their skills to the test with a practice activity!
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn the names of five fallacies and identify them in arguments.

Thank you for visiting my page!
I love teaching and I am so excited to teach philosophy to teenagers! I love making philosophy fun, engaging, and relevant. I teach kids to think about complex issues and to draw their own conclusions. It is a rule of mine to always let students think for themselves!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the University of Florida.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and cooking.
If you are interested in any of my tutoring sessions that do not have a class open for enrollment, please feel free to message me and we can work out a time! :-)
