In this on-going interactive storytime learners will have a "girly" book read to them about princesses, mermaids, rainbows, unicorns, etc. Your child will learn about the parts of the book, as well as other pre-reading skills such as concepts of print (words are read from left to right and top to bottom, and understanding words represent a spoken word to convey a message), and language skills (answering simple questions about the story, retelling the story in their own words, and describing characters and settings). Every week after our story, learners will create a simple craft along with me. Some of the crafts will require parent supervision, and possibly help with the craft like cutting. Within 24 hours after taking the class I will post supplies and an example of the craft for the next week. Feel free to switch out supplies as needed. Week of January 4th: Winter Fun for Everyone! Hello, my name is Danielle! I am excited to teach your child! I am currently a stay at home mom of one boy who is 1 years old, and three girls, my youngest daughter is 5 years old and my older two girls, who are actually my stepdaughters, are 13 and 15 years old; they live with us 100% of the time so I consider them my own.
My husband is in the Marine Corps. We are both originally from central Illinois, we currently live in Virginia but I have also lived in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Missouri, North Carolina, and Arizona.
I attended Illinois State University where I have a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I completed the Professional Development School during my senior year at ISU, which is where college students Student Teach for an entire school year rather than just one semester. I have taught Preschool and Kindergarten for 6 years in a brick and mortar school. I have also taught Middle School Special Education and 4th grade for 1 year each in the same school district. Before Outschool I taught ESL online to students in Asia.
I am passionate about education! I love taking something that children are not interested in and making it fun for them. I feel that it is crucial to teach students in a variety of ways as we all learn things differently. I am passionate about reading, I read with my children every day.
I also enjoy going to the beach, swimming in a pool, hiking, bike riding with my family, traveling, and crafting, as well as playing with my girls and watching them learn. I also enjoy doing yoga with my daughters, as well as, spending time with my family and our family dog, June Bug.
