Jean de La Fontaine collected and wrote fables from a wide variety of sources, both Western and Eastern, and adapted them into French free verse with charming animal characters. Readers of his fables must actively decide the moral of the story and the lessons it provides when looking at their own lives. Join us as we read and discuss 14 of these fables in class. This is a full-immersion French class. Students are expected to converse only in the target language. This is a gret way to increase your learner's vocabulary, both oral and written in French. Students will need to purchase the book 'Les Fables de Jean de la Fontaine: Livre Premier' ISBN-13: 978-1717039255. Students will read the fables from this book in order. We will read the following fables from this book: Week 1: 'La Cigale et la Fourmi' Week 2: 'Le Courbeau et le Renard' Week 3: La Greouille qui veut se faire aussi grosse que le boeuf' Week 4: 'Les Deux Mulets' Week 5: Le Loup et le Chien' Week 6: La genisse, la Chevre, et la Brebis en societe avec le Lion' Week 7: 'La Besace' Week 8: 'L'Hirondelle et les petits Oiseaux' Week 9: 'Le Rat de Ville et le Rat des Champs' Week 10: 'Le Loup et l'Agneau' Week 11: 'L'Homme et son image' Week 12: 'Le Dragon a Plusieurs Queue Week 13: 'Les Voleurs et l'ane' Week 14: 'Le Coq et la Perle'
