We will be learning to work with Exponents and the Exponent Rules. day 1 - Expressions using exponents with numbers and variables and determining the products and quotients with exponents day 2 - Zero and Negative Exponents day 3 - Power Rule with Exponents I start my classes with reviewing and relating what they already understand about the topic before introducing new material and concepts. I use slide presentations to give examples that I model. Then I have students work through examples together with me. Finally, I have students practice with the concepts in various ways. A worksheet reviewing the rules is also provided.

I'm Mrs. Essmeier, and I love teaching Mathematics. There are so many wonderful patterns to discover with numbers. Understanding why you use certain equations and how these concepts work is an important part of mathematics. My objective is to help my students to understand the connection between the math they learn and the real world in which they live. Mathematics is something you will use every day in one way or another. The more you know and understand, the more you will use.
I provide one on one tutoring for one, two, or three days for one week or ongoing. My tutoring includes the topics found in the curricula for most 6th through 10th grades - number sense, equations, functions, graphing, geometry, fractions, decimals, and more.
I teach Monday - Friday. Please contact me to request times (include time zone) and days available.
I retired from teaching school after 39 years, but I'm not tired of teaching. I've been on Outschool since the fall of 2020. My various degrees include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, a Masters degree in Mathematics Education, a Math Specialist enhanced level 2, and an ESL endorsement. My teaching experiences include grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th for 30 years. I then moved to the middle school and taught 7th and 8th grade for nine years.
