Grado de EE. UU. 2 - 4
Nivel Beginner - Intermediate
Sigue en plan de estudios Eureka Math
Alineado con Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
8 lessons//8 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction to Two-Step Word Problems
Introduce students to two-step word problems and the concept of breaking down problems into smaller steps. Students will work on reading and identifying the important information in word problems.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Drawing Addition & Subtraction Models
Students will learn to represent addition & subtraction word problems using models such as tape diagrams to visualize the steps of the problem. Problem types will involve adding to and taking from situations, putting together and taking apart situations, and situations involving comparisons.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Drawing Multiplication & Division Models
Students will learn to represent multiplication and division word problems using models such as tape diagrams to visualize the steps of the problem. Problem types will involve total unknown (multiplication), number of groups unknown (quotative division), and the size of groups unknown (partitive division), finding the area of a rectangle, and comparison word problems.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Solving Word Problems Using Equations
Students will be introduced to using equations with a letter to represent the unknown. Students will learn how to write equations that align with the two-step word problems.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Estimating Solutions
Students will learn to estimate solutions to two-step word problems using rounding before solving them.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Assessing Reasonableness of Answers
Students will learn to assess the reasonableness of their answers to two-step word problems using mental computation and estimation strategies.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Practice & Real-World Application
Apply problem-solving skills to real-world scenarios involving two-step word problems.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Share, Practice & Review
Students will share their real-world solutions using two-step word problems. Students will be provided with opportunities to review and practice solving various two-step word problems using the skills and strategies learned.
  • Students will use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem. (Common Core Math Standard: 2.OA.A.1) Students will solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies, including rounding. (Common Core Math Standard: 3.OA.D.8)
