The world around us is filled with wonders! Some are man-made, while others have been created through the power and beauty of mother nature. Together we will travel across the globe, and explore the Pyramids of Egypt, The Great Wall of China, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, among many others. At each location we will discuss how it got there, its historical and cultural significance, and what we can do to preserve it for future generations. Join us in this class as we blend exploration, science and history and uncover the secrets of the many Wonders hidden throughout our planet! In our classes we will focus on the geography, science, history and cultures that go along with each of our wonders. We will look at the ancient civilizations that built or revered these sites. We will discover how modern humans interact with and preserve them. And we will learn how the geography of a monument or nation can change history for thousands of years! Our travels will take us far and wide, but during our first classes we will explore the following Wonders: ---------------------------------------------- *****SCHEDULE***** Week of Dec 23rd Through January 12th- *****Winter Break***** ------------------------------------------ *****Spring 2025 Schedule***** Week of Jan 13th - Bermuda Triangle - Week of Jan 20th - Chicxulub - Week of Jan 27th - James Webb Space Telescope - Week of Feb 3rd - Sahara Desert - Week of Feb 10th - Transcontinental Railroad - Week of Feb 17th - Hawai'i - Week of Feb 24th - Mahabodhi Temple - Week of March 3rd - Banff National Park - Week of March 10th - Tenochitlan - Week of March 17th - Lake Retba - Week of March 24th - Mount Rainer - Week of March 31st - Glendalough - Week of April 7th - Boston Light - Week of April 14th - The Titanic - Week of April 21st - Everglades - Week of April 28th - Colombia's Crystal River - Week of May 5th - Taj Mahal - Week of May 12th - Serengeti - Week of May 19th - Panama Canal - Week of May 26th - Bioluminescence - Week of June 2nd - Bruges - Week of June 9th - Amazon River - Week of June 16th - Machu Picchu - Week of June 23rd - Great Barrier Reef - Week of June 30th - Lion's Rock Sri Lanka - *****Summer Schedule TBD***** Our journey won't end here, and we can always revisit our favorite locations and take a more in-depth look at them together as we travel around the globe in search of the Wonders of the Ancient and Natural World! Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello there! My name is Sean and I love to teach fun, engaging classes generally centered around history, science, and storytelling! Many of my classes involve some type of activity, story-telling, reading, writing or some other unique assignment (such as map-making!) to help students feel more invested in the material and get excited about learning more each day.
The people I learn the most from and respect the most are those who are truly passionate and engaged with the subjects they love. This is where Outschool shines because no one is forced to teach a class they don't like or teach in a way that isn't interesting to them! I find that when teachers can effectively communicate their passion about subjects to their students everyone is uplifted and comes away having grown smarter and wiser.
With every class my goal is to help your students develop powerful habits that transcend the courses they take with me. Creative thinking, reading comprehension, creative and persuasive writing, pattern recognition and logic are just some of the talents students will develop over the duration of the courses they choose. I can't wait to start working together! See you soon!
