This winter camp is perfect for those who love ancient Egypt, history, travel and adventure! Each class in this 5-day camp will focus on a particular location, and will be presented in a “build your own trip” style. Every learner will get to choose part of the itinerary as we tour a place, making the classes super fun and interactive. Camp Schedule: Day 1: Cairo Travel to the top sights and hidden gems in Cairo, Egypt’s bustling capital city. Day 2: Luxor Tour the tombs, temples and monuments of Luxor—the world's greatest open-air museum! Day 3: Alexandria Explore the beautiful Mediterranean port of Alexandria, birthplace to the infamous queen Cleopatra. Day 4: Desert Adventure Journey through the Sahara desert to unearth ancient pyramids, prehistoric fossils and more! Day 5: Museums Tour Take a virtual field trip to Egypt's most magnificent museums, and discover ancient artifacts and fossils, plus come face to face with mummies and other awe-inspiring relics. We’ll also cover all the basics that shape daily life in Egypt—geography, language, transportation, food and more. These classes will be lively! Learners will enjoy interacting with slides and games, and the information presented will be bite-sized and memorable. No previous experience required. My goal is for students to build their understanding of both ancient and modern-day Egypt, and to discover something new that sparks their curiosity and imagination.

Fuentes
Class content will reflect the use of a variety of primary and secondary sources that showcase differing views from widely respected professionals in the field, in particular the perspectives of Egyptian scholars, journalists, and archaeologists. It is especially important to highlight the Egyptian perspective considering the effects of colonization in Egypt and the inaccurate representation of historical figures such as Cleopatra and Tutankhamun that persist until today.
