▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS INTRO ▬▬▬▬▬
Welcome to the "Exciting Earth Science" series, which focuses on the most dramatic physical forces on Earth with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making learning enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. My classes focus on the Geology and Geophysics part of Earth Science. No previous experience necessary.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬
This class will help the student get their head around the vast expanses of Geological Time by looking at some more familiar analogies that are easier to comprehend, like 12hr clock faces. Then we'll look at a brief history of the Earth, from its formation to the creation of the first continents. At one point all the continents drifted together to form a supercontinent called Pangea. But how do we know this? We'll look at the fossil and geological record and see how we can put all the clues together to see how the Earth was different in the past. We'll go one an amazing adventure through the history of our beautiful and precious planet and discover how the ground beneath our feet is actually a rock-boat sailing around the world on magma currents!

▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬
I use powerpoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia and make the class more interesting. This class will be run using an "intro-discussion-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. Then we will pause to take questions and make sure everyone is keeping up. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material, and then pause for questions after that one too. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved and ask questions, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure. If you like this class then you check out my full "Earth Science" courses, with subjects cherry picked to choose the most interesting, accessible and relevant Earth Science subjects for kids, so they learn to enjoy exploring the world around them.

▬▬▬▬▬▬ LINKED TOPICS ▬▬▬▬▬
This class can be taken on its own, but is best understood along with my other "Exciting Earth Science" classes, especially these two:
1) Exciting Earth Science: Plate Tectonics, Continent Smashing & Metamorphic Rocks.
2) Exciting Earth Science: Magnetism & Seismology of the Earth's Core, Mantle & Crust
Please see my class listings for more lessons in the School of Hard Rocks!
Metas de aprendizaje
To think and learn without realising it, because you are having fun! By the end of the class the student will be understand a basic story of how the Earth formed and the causes of Continental Drift over Geological Time. And also how the fossil and geological record can help us see how the supercontinent Pangea came together and split apart way back in the mists of time.
