Welcome! From teaching math in a school to online classes, and even teaching my own, I understand how frustrated some students may become when they face mathematical obstacles! I am here for you – and them. I specialize in patiently explaining several different techniques and how to master each necessary math skill. In this course, your learner will feel confident and assured they will have mastered the material. All of my classes are very interactive. I encourage questions. I ask questions for clarification and ask for the students to model the process. My teaching method is -I do, we do, you do. I will shower your learner with praise when the task is accomplished and encouragement when they are struggling with a difficult concept. For each class, the format will be as follows: 5 min – Welcome to the classroom and begin with a real-life math problem, just to get their minds eager and ready. 5 min – Review and Homework questions 15 min – Instruction 15 min – Practice (ensuring student feels confident with the procedures) 5 min – Assignment and Good-bye The 15-week section will cover the following skills: Week 1: Introductions, Factoring, Prime Numbers, and Prime Factors Week 2: Factoring: Finding Greatest Common Factors/Lowest Common Multiples Week 3: Factoring: Equivalent Fractions, Reducing Fractions, and Comparing Fractions - Quiz Week 4: Common Denominators, Complex Fractions, Order of Operations Week 5: Complex Fractions, Order of Operations continued Week 6: Decimal: Comparing, Adding, Subtracting, Dividing, and Multiplying Week 7: Conversions: Converting Decimals to Fractions and back again - Assessment Week 8: Conversions: Converting Percentages to Decimals and Fractions, Percentage "of," and Percentage "off" Week 9: Rations and Mixing Fractions, Decimals, and Percents Together Week 10: Rates, Unit Rates, and Proportions - Quiz Week 11: Unit Conversions and Solving for X Week 12: Basic Geometry (Perimeter, Area, and Volume) Week 13: Estimating, Average/Means, Mode, and Median - Quiz Week 14: Powers and Roots Week 15: Charts and Graphs and Scientific Notation - Assessment Just for reference, there will be a lot of story problems that I have tried to make relatable to most students.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have my BA in Education for College of Florida and am in process of completing my Master's in Education. However, I have been teaching in the classroom for 30 years. I have enjoyed teaching Arithmetic, Prealgebra, and Algebra in the classroom, for homeschool students, and online for the last eight years. Overall, while teaching math skills for over 10 years, I have honed my teaching to make math skills relatable to the students. My passion is to show them that they are more than capable of mastering the material!
