Estrategias de lectura esenciales para 3.er y 4.o grado

The purpose of this course is to help intermediate level readers deepen their understanding of a variety of texts through employing many core  reading strategies. Comprehension is a crucial part of the reading process. Practicing these strategies will help your learners improve their comprehension of unfamiliar texts. This is an ongoing class so learners can drop in and learn about a unique reading strategy each week. Every  lesson will be different and will never be canceled due to low enrollment. In our first meeting, we’ll begin with introductions ( name, age and question of the day) and a brief overview of the class rules. Then the fun begins! 

At some points I may use a Canva presentation in a screen share capacity only with photos and graphics. I will also occasionally be screen sharing texts and materials via document camera so learners can have more explicit teacher guidance if needed.

 In each class, we will have a short lesson on the particular reading strategy that week, then learners will have a text or story given by me to practice with.  As a class, we will then use the accompanying writing activity and reference the text to better understand the the reading. The day before each lesson, printable materials will be posted in the classroom for that particular reading strategy. 


I am a very student centered teacher and strive to support students by meeting them at their instructional level. I am happy to adjust to a pace that is comfortable for your child, so they are challenged but not frustrated. My goal is to help give your child a deeper understanding of the skill they are practicing, thereby boosting their confidence! 

Please make sure your learner has their work  with them for our class and any other materials needed so they can get the most benefit from our time together. I look forward to meeting and helping your child develop their critical thinking skills!
