This is a beginner-level course! This class is designed for students that have trouble starting or finishing essays and everything in between. Students will not write a full essay in this class, but we will all work as a group to plan out key elements of an essay. Students will learn how to use tools, tips, and thinking skills that they can bring with them into the classroom and use without having to worry that they will stand out to other students. We will cover essay basics, including essay structure, paragraph structure, how to break down and understand a writing prompt, how to develop a thesis, and how to apply personal interests to academic writing assignments. This class will be a great supplement to in-school writing assignments. Students should bring paper and a pen or pencil to take notes.
