Learners will learn the 'hamburger' paragraph method (topic sentence, supporting details, and closing sentence). Writing prompts will be provided. Work will be assigned and submitted work will receive feedback. Learning how to write an essay is essential because it builds a foundation for clear and organized communication. Through essay writing, individuals develop critical thinking skills and learn to present their ideas in a structured format. Each paragraph must have a purpose, and mastering this helps develop the needed skills to communicate clearly. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝟏: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡 Students will be introduced to the structure of writing a paragraph. We will work on topic sentences, supporting details, and the closing sentence. Students will practice identifying the different parts in a paragraph. Students will select a prompt and submit their paragraph. Learners will learn how to write an introduction with a hook, background information, and a thesis along with the 'upside down introduction' for the conclusion. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝟐: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐲 Students will learn how to structure an introduction and conclusion. Introduction: (the hook/attention-getter) and writing a thesis statement. Conclusion: I will teach the 'upside-down' introduction method. Students will learn about the basic outline format. The students will be given three options for their writing prompt. Students will complete and submit an essay. All work submitted on time will be reviewed. *There is nothing that needs to be printed prior to class. All class material will be made available after each class. While this class primarily relies on lectures to deliver content, it is designed to be interactive and engaging. Throughout the class, there will be ample opportunities for interaction through questioning to ensure understanding and engagement. Review sessions will also be incorporated to reinforce and practice what was learned. In addition to structured lessons, learners will be provided with writing prompts to guide their practice. However, they may explore topics of personal interest and creativity if they prefer. This flexibility allows learners to tailor their writing experience to their individual preferences.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗱𝗲 (𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿):
I started my path to teaching in college when I volunteered with AmeriCorps. I went on to teach in traditional public schools after I completed my M.Ed and received my teaching license, but I quickly learned the school environment was not the ideal setting for myself or my child. That is when I transitioned to homeschooling and teaching online. I have been teaching writing course for fifteen years. My primary objective in each class is to help the learners feel comfortable and gain confidence in their writing.
